The name "NikoLogs" is made up of part of the founder's first name - Nicolas - and "Logs", which means "logs" in English. The company was officially founded on 1 May 2021, but has existed on the side since 2011, when Nicolas completed an internship in log house construction with Thierry Hourdart in the Corrèze. Nicolas caught the log building bug when he watched another Nicolas build a log cabin in Les Près-d'Orvin in 2009. Although Nicolas had trained as a forest warden and obtained his EFZ in 2002, he continued to attend courses to obtain his technical vocational baccalaureate, with the idea of studying to become a forest engineer. That year, however, he tried to pass the entrance exam for the paramedic school in Geneva and was accepted, which gave his professional life a significant turnaround. After more than 17 years at the ambulance service in the Biel region, where he had worked in all positions, Nicolas fulfilled his dream in 2021 and officially founded his own company to become fully independent. Since then, he has travelled extensively throughout Scandinavia and attended courses on the traditional construction of log cabins throughout Europe.
