All useful items such as a mask, water bottle, or depth sounder can be attached to the external rings or stored inside the buoy in a special compartment. To maximize visibility, the Mares Training Buoy is designed in a bright red color with a white band on the top. Visibility can be enhanced by an accessory flag that is highly visible and easy to attach to the new mount.

The buoy is equipped with a double chamber, with the exterior made of durable Cordura. The inner chamber contains a pressure relief valve and a valve for inflating the buoy. At the bottom of the buoy, there is a reinforced pull point with a stainless steel ring for the line/pulley system, as well as several rivet-reinforced holes to allow water to drain quickly.
