Protect your hands with Mares Flex Gold Ultrastretch 30 gloves

Do you love freediving and want to dive year-round in Swiss lakes? Then you should definitely get yourself some freediving gloves. They protect your hands from cold and injuries. The Flex Gold freediving gloves are made from 3mm neoprene. Smooth neoprene with a special inner gold coating. Ultrastretch neoprene with reinforced palms and fingers. Ideal for freedivers looking for a soft and robust glove.

Freediving in the lake

Freediving is most enjoyable when you have as little equipment as possible: ideally, just dive with a mask, snorkel, and swimsuit in a tropical coral reef. But reality is different for most of us: we live in Switzerland, a freediving paradise, and most of us can reach various bodies of water with top water quality within a 30-minute drive. However, these waters are usually cold and Swiss summers are short. Even in summer, when the surface of our lakes reaches temperatures above 20 degrees, the temperature drops rapidly in depth. During longer and deeper dives, most freedivers will want to dive with gloves year-round.

Free Immersion (FIM)

If you enjoy doing Free Immersion (FIM) dives or have a buoy and need to pull the rope, you'll be glad to protect your hands with gloves. The Mares Flex Gold 3mm gloves protect your hands without hindering your equalization. Thanks to the golden inner coating of the gloves, you can easily put them on and take them off.

Pro tip for year-round diving in Swiss lakes: You will need three pairs of gloves. The Mares Flex Gold Ultrastretch 30 gloves are perfect for the summer months when the lakes are over 20 degrees. The Mares Flex Gold Ultrastretch 50 gloves are ideal for the cooler months when the water temperature is between 8 and 12 degrees. And if you want to dive in deep winter, get yourself thick three-finger gloves that keep your hands warm for up to 40 minutes but offer less mobility, making equalization more difficult.

Problems with very thick gloves

Have you ever wondered why your diving partner leaves a trail of bubbles behind while descending? With thick gloves, it is not easy to completely close the nostrils for equalization. As soon as air escapes from your nostrils, you won't be able to equalize. To generate enough pressure in the nasal cavity to open the Eustachian tubes, the nostrils must be completely closed. This is not easy with thick gloves: this is also why you will likely do less deep dives in winter than in summer.
