Freediving Open Water Training in Steckborn at Untersee

In the picturesque Untersee near Steckborn, I offer regular open water freediving training. The open water training takes place on Thursday evenings during the summer months from June to October. In winter (from November to May), I organize open water training on an individual basis on Saturdays or Sundays.

Warm-up

Our open water training begins with a warm-up on land, where we prepare for the water with lung stretching exercises. If you have new equipment, we first check your buoyancy. At the buoy, we perform some warm-up dives to activate the Mammalian Diving Response (MDR).

Constant Weight and Free Immersion

Next, we do constant weight (CWT) dives, where you can use either stereo fins or a monofin. You have the choice between mask and snorkel or fluid goggles and nose clip. Free immersion (FIM) diving is also part of our training program.

Functional Residual Volume (FRC) Dives

For advanced divers who have already completed the PADI Advanced Freediver course or equivalent, we often finish the open water training with special exercises. These include Functional Residual Volume (FRC) dives. We also regularly integrate rescue exercises to be prepared in case of a blackout.

To conclude, we like to look under the dive platform near the shore to spot perch and pike.

Requirements

The open water freediving training is open to all certified freedivers from PADI Freediver level or equivalent. If you are certified as a PADI Basic Freediver, you are also welcome to do a PADI Freediver upgrade during the training sessions.

I look forward to welcoming you to the crystal-clear waters of Untersee! Please contact me for details.
