What are Lobster Rubber Plugs?

Lobster Rubber Plugs are essential replacement parts for the Lobster Weight or Lobster Belt Weight system, specifically designed for freediving. These small but important rubber plugs serve to securely connect the individual weights of the Lobster Weight or Lobster Belt Weight to each other and to the Lobster Base. They ensure a stable and durable attachment, keeping the weights securely in place even during dynamic movements underwater.

Do you really need Lobster Rubber Plugs?

The question arises: are Lobster Rubber Plugs really necessary? In fact, the Lobster segments can stay assembled without these plugs, as long as you don't perform extreme movements underwater. Personally, I often do rotations during dynamic diving or swim on my back to improve my coordination. About half of my segments are unsecured, and I have never lost a segment. The segments hold well together, so there is no immediate danger.

However, a fully equipped Lobster Weight or Lobster Belt Weight should have all its connections secured with Rubber Plugs. This not only provides additional safety but also gives a professional and neat appearance. You wouldn't walk around with untied shoelaces, even if it doesn't cause an immediate trip.

Where do all these rubber plugs go?

If you use your Lobster Weight system regularly, you have surely noticed that a rubber plug goes missing from time to time. No problem, just order replacements. The lost Lobster Rubber Plugs are a phenomenon comparable to the disappearance of socks after washing: just after reducing weight during a workout, a plug goes missing during the next session. You often wonder if your freediving buddy has completed their missing plugs with yours, or if a wave has carried the small rubber plug, eventually ending up in the ocean.

Why are there no spare plugs in the box?

Many people wonder why the manufacturer doesn't simply add a few extra rubber plugs to each Lobster Weight or Lobster Belt Weight set. The good news is that each box actually contains a small bag with spare rubber plugs. However, like socks or glasses, these spare plugs often mysteriously disappear. It seems that these small accessories have a life of their own and vanish just when you need them the most.

This is why it is always advisable to have a few extra rubber plugs on hand to ensure that your Lobster Weight system is always fully and securely assembled. This way, you can fully concentrate on your freediving and enjoy your dives to the fullest.
